Short Bio
With a distinguished career spanning over 35 years in the film and media industry, Heather brings a wealth of experience to her partnership with Mindy Raymond in their consulting firm The Shine Company (ShineCo.).
Heather's journey took off in the camera department, where she worked up the ladder on features and TV shows such as "Armageddon", "The Green Mile," and "Friday Night Lights". In 2012, she was appointed Director of the Texas Film Commission (2012-2017). Post-TFC, she consulted and served as interim director at Austin Studios for the Austin Film Society (2018-2021) before putting out the ShineCo. shingle to help those building industry infrastructure, such as stages and communities, build their film tourism and film production capacities.
Heather's leadership extends to serving on boards for the Association of Film Commissioners International, Austin Film Society, Texas Motion Picture Alliance, International Cinematographers Guild, and Society of Camera Operators, as well as founder and chairperson of the ICG Scholarship Fund, and founder and Executive Director of the Beyond the Lights Celebrity Golf Classic (2008-2013) an annual weekend fundraiser to raise money and awareness for two spinal cord injury foundations, The Buoniconti Fund To Cure Paralysis and Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Foundation
At ShineCo., Heather focuses on advancing the creative media production industry by assisting with facility design and development, and fostering film tourism and film production through ShineCo. Academy's online educational courses.
